Les Arcs & Vallandry

1600m – 3220m The skiing:

Highly popular with those in the know and a real find for keen, mixed ability groups, a circuit with over 200 km of varied pistes from high altitude glacier skiing to sheltered forest runs down to pretty alpine hamlets like Peisey Nancroix and Vallandry. The birthplace of snowboarding in France and also the highly successful “Ski Evolutif” method of ski tuition on short skis, it boasts maximum ski convenience with doorstep skiing to suit all levels.

1450m – 3250m The skiing:

Opening this winter, the Vanoise Express Telecabine will whisk 2000 snow-lovers an hour from Montchavin Les Coches to Peisey- Vallandry (or vice versa) in just 4 minutes, revealing a world of alpine possibilities. Choose from among the glacial peaks of Bellecote or Aiguille Rouge, high-altitude resorts of Arc 1800, Arc 1950, Plagne Soleil or Belle Plagne, or discover the delights of Montchavin Les Coches and sunny slopes of Peisey Vallandry.

THE RESORTS

Arc Pierre Blanche 1600m:
Linked by high speed funicular in just 7 minutes to the Eurostar station and montain town of Bourg St Maurice, a compact, small resort, set in the trees, ideal for families of mixed ability and young children (children’s club from 4 mths).

Non-skiing: cinema, disco, some restaurants and bars, trips to Bourg St Maurice.

Arc 1800m:
The main resort and very popular due to its ski-in, ski-out convenience, friendly arcades housing shops, some lively bars and restaurants, and incredibly easy access to either altitude skiing in the Arc 2000 bowl or long, tree lined red and blue runs down to the unspoilt hamlet of Peisey Nancroix (from where the Paradiski telecabine to La Plagne starts) or, in the other direction, to Arc 1600m. A popular resort, too, for snowboarders with a dedicated Funpark between 1800 and 1600m.

Non-skiing: ice rink, bowling, discos, squash, snow scooters, husky-drawn sleigh rides (in Arc 2000), hang gliding, parapenting, climbing, ice-grotto, restaurants and bars.

Arc 1950 Le Village 1950m:
The new resort Arc 1950 Le Village opens its doors to skiers this winter. This new resort redefines the concept of mountain holidays, with a new design approach focusing on exceptional levels of service and great respect for the natural environment. Developers, Intrawest, have brought from North America to Europe their expertise in designing ski villages. Currently made up of 2 main residences, shops and restaurants, and linked by telecabine to Arc 2000, this exclusive ski-in and ski-out resort provides endless skiing opportunities within the domaines of Les Arcs and Paradiski.

Non-skiing: indoor swimming-pool, fitness centre, bars.

Vallandry 1600m:
An authentic mountain village, Vallandry is a haven of rural peace, sustained by its still active dairy farming community. The local skiing area is situated on the sunniest slopes within Les Arcs, in the heart of a majestic spruce and larch forest. Intermediates and beginners alike will enjoy clear views of Mont Blanc from the 30km of pistes and very easy access to the Paradiski Telecabine for the whole of La Plagne.

Non-skiing: paragliding, dog sledding, ice climbing, library, cinema, bars & discos.
