The SkiingOffering over 200km of pistes spread across 11 ski resorts, each with their own character, La Plagne is an intermediate’s paradise with long wide motorway pistes. Its altitude and many north-facing slopes guarantee excellent snow cover. Some great off-piste areas, plenty of space for boarders and nursery slopes near each village ensure its suitability for skiers of all levels.
The firm favourite with the British for
its modern but attractive wood and slate small, quality residences,
abundant nursery slopes, very good child care facilities and
location at the base of the gondola leading to the Bellecote glacier
and the Roche de Mio. Car free centre. Connected to Bellecote by
free gondola until 0100 in the morning. One of the most recent of La Plagne
resorts, Plagne Soleil is set in the sunny bowl with magnificent
panoramic views between Belle Plagne and Plagne Centre, with easy
access to the extensive lift network. A car-free resort, it links
directly to Plagne Centre by shuttle bus until 0100 in the morning. One of the liveliest of the La Plagne
resorts with bar terraces facing the pistes, popular open-air heated
pool and departure point for the lifts up to the glacier. Just above
the resort is a Fun Park and half pipe for snowboarders. Gentle
pistes, ideal for beginners, are located either side of the Arpette
ridge. A most successful, small Savoyard style
purpose built resort with village ambience, door to door skiing.
Snow is virtually guaranteed, despite its lower altitude, thanks to
80 snow cannons between 1850m and the village. It also has very easy
access to the brand new Paradiski Telecabine via the ski lift
Planbois. The local slopes are excellent for beginners, whilst
intermediates can access the whole of La Plagne circuit easily, and
there are plenty of activities for non skiers.
